“I’m Happier Than A Tornado In A Trailer Park” – Mater
“Have a 3 day festival in the forest,” they said. “It’ll be fun,” they said. What they didn’t say, until it was almost too late, was severe thunderstorms and possible tornadoes would be ripping through your festival. There I was, all alone, under my 10 foot by 10 foot canopy with my speakers. It was getting dark quickly and the winds were picking up. I was preparing myself when Bill showed up and said “I couldn’t leave you here alone.” That’s what family does. They stick to your side and help hold the canopy down in the middle of a thunderstorm. As the tornado warnings were going off on our phones while buckets of rain came down on us, I remember saying to Bill, partly as a joke and partly serious, “If we get sucked away by a tornado, at least we’ll die in the trees together.” After a few laughs and a couple of beers, the storm passed and we got right back to bangin’ beats in the forest. Hold onto and treat the people who show up with love and kindness because you never know if they will get sucked away by a tornado.
