Micke
Emerging in Washington, D.C. twenty years ago, in the prime of the rave era, Micke was a talented & bright, yet unknown artist in an overflowing sea of bedroom DJ’s. In 1998, Micke co- founded Liquid Lounge (now known as Liquid Lounge SoundSystem), with good friend & long-time business partner, Erik Johnson, known as EJ. Together they formed a DJ collective & promotion group, which was led by Contrast, Micke & EJ’s tag team name. As part of Contrast, Micke was regularly playing some of the most notable venues on the East Coast. Micke gained notoriety as a sound & lighting tech for Primacy, a major venue owner in DC, working as a senior tech for their flagship venues Club Five and Nation. Micke’s hard work and dedication was recognized by Scott Henry, the founder of Buzz, who hired him onto his management team. Buzz is considered to be one of the most well known and influential weekly dance events in US history. Thanks to Buzz, Micke garnered the opportunities to showcase his talent along side some of the biggest names in electronic music including: Sasha, Hybrid, The Crystal Method, The Chemical Brothers, Quivver, Jimmy Van M, Paul Oakenfold, BT, RiTM, Judge Jules, Max Graham, Armin Van Helden, Dave Ralph, Deep Dish, Saeed & Polosh, PVD, Chris Fortier, Carl Cox, Christopher Laurence, Justin Scott Dixon, Jody Wisternoff, Dave Seaman, Danny Howells, DJ Dan, Scott Henry, Charles Feelgood, DJ Keoki, and Donald Glaude to name a few…. and of course, Sandra Collins. Micke earned a Buzzlife residency, putting him and his collective, Liquid Lounge, in regular main room rotation for Buzz. In a master stroke, Scott Henry paired Micke with Sandra Collins, realizing an artistic pairing that would stretch for 20+ years. After their first dynamic pairing, Sandra began requesting Micke as her opening DJ whenever she played at Buzz. In 2002, Sandra invited Micke to tour with her as her opening DJ. On top of an active performance schedule, Micke also managed for Deep Dish’s ‘Yoshitoshi Records’, as a manager of their online store. He also worked as an assistant music purchaser, under the direction of Alex Whalen, General Manager of Yoshitoshi Records (Store) and Yoshitoshi.com. In 2006, Micke took a hiatus from performing to focus on completing his education while also honing his studio production and engineering skills. Ten years later in 2016, he began to surge back into the industry, only this time as a producer, as well as a performer.. In 2017, Micke began to release solo originals as well as a multi release collaboration with Sandra Collins. These projects were signed across multiple US and UK based labels. With his discography growing, he’s worked with such artists as: Justin Scott Dixon aka Voyager, Charlie May, Noel Sanger, Dominion, Michael & Levan, Rivic, Seth Vogt, Emmanuella, Beauxtech!, and Talia Rain. Micke has continued to evolve his 20 year music partnership with EJ, as Temporal Mental, in parallel to his solo career and is affiliated with Buzzlife Productions & Liquid Lounge SoundSystem, which are staples from his Washington, D.C. roots. In late 2017, Micke’s production efforts began to shine. As of late 2020, he has been signed to 10 labels, spanning 7 countries over 3 continents. This includes remix projects as well as original work. These labels include: Perfecto, Perfecto Black, Pro B Tech Music, B Tech Noir, Dissident Music, Natura Viva, Inergy Music, Rhythm & Culture, Stripped Digital, & Stripped Recordings. A true performer at heart, and now a respected producer, Micke has truly become a complete electronic artist. In 2021, Micke began hosting “Progressive Theory” which later became “Latitude”, which airs on the 21C Progressive House platform. On July 5th, 2022, as Managing Director of Pro B Tech Management | North America, Micke (along with his partners) launched a new roster of the finest electronic dance music talent that North America has to offer. With all this behind his experience, not to mention a network of outstanding partners, artists, and collaborators, along with an ever growing fan base, Micke continues to expand his present with his eyes looking towards the future and beyond.
